My copywriting process

My process is flexible and differs depending on the project. But usually, I start with an in-depth conservation about your requirements, where your business is and where you want it to be, and who your target audience is. We’ll talk about tone of voice, content and a timeline.

I’ll then get researching. I’ll look at your competitors and your customers. I’ll find out what language your customers, or potential customers, use and what their pain points are. 

I’ll then write a first taster, with a couple of options for a tone of voice so you can choose which one you like.

And then I’ll write a first draft, edit it and edit it again until I think it’s just right. Then I’ll present it to you and leave it with you to chew over. You can then get back to me with your feedback and I’ll adjust the copy according to your wishes.

Finally we’ll have a draft you’re happy with and we can crack open the bubbly.

Our relationship doesn’t have to end there, though. I can offer, as part of the service, to revisit the project at an agreed date to see how it’s doing in terms of conversions/responses/traffic, and adjust the copy if needed.

I also offer a quick copy clinic, where you email me your copy (whether it’s a web page or a press release, brochure page or anything), I’ll spend an hour looking over it and then send you suggestions on how to improve it. It’s simple, quick and cost-effective.
